The only foolproof way to avoid speeding tickets is to watch your speed. The reality is that those limits were put there with the safety of the general public in mind.
There are of course those that argue that the limits are too low for them. That may be true but it is most certainly impossible to set up a speed limit that adjusts itself depending on driver ability.
Keep in mind that all the different kinds of drivers are on the motorway and country roads. We have the boy racers, the little old grandma and a whole spectrum of drivers with varying abilities.
The law needs to be a one size fits all thing and any errors that are made must be on the side of caution. Never mind if the speed limit is a tad too slow, better that than a tad too fast.
Saving lives is the ultimate goal of these laws and they want to make sure that a senior driver is not forced to drive beyond her limits just to keep up with the traffic flow dictated by a boy racer.
A little consideration here and there can make a difference to save lives.
Remember, speeding is best done on the racetrack.
If after reading the foregoing, you still want to speed a little then read on for some tips that can save you from penalties. First off, there are many ways offered all over the internet that offer you techniques to avoid speeding tickets. Well the efficacy of these methods is beyond the scope of our topic. But here are two that may be viable:
When you are caught, there are two possible scenarios and the scenario that applies to your situation is one that is known only to you. So be honest when you try and see which scenario is yours so you can select the proper remedy.
First scenario is premised on the fact that you know that you are innocent and that the officer or camera mistakenly apprehended you.
In this case, you do have a few alternatives. One is to question, with legal assistance, the accuracy of the speed gun or speed camera. It is of course imperative that you also know for a fact that your speedometer is in fact accurate.
Another alternative is available only if you have a GPS vehicle tracker on your vehicle. These devices can be accurate to distances as small as 3 meters. In other words, they can determine the vehicle location within 3 meters which is not a big variation even if you are running at highway speeds.
It has been shown in several highly publicized cases in the UK that GPS data can overturn the data from a speeding camera or speed gun. So this alternative is probably your best hope in overturning a speeding conviction.
Second scenario assumes you are guilty. Now this is where you have to scrutinize the details of your apprehension. A little mistake can result in having the case dismissed. So look closely.
You can also question the accuracy of the camera particularly if the data is near the borderline of legal speeds. There are a lot of legal companies that make a living by winning reversals of speeding fines by focusing on camera or speed gun accuracy alone.
Keep the following brief list in mind as these are several ways by which you can challenge a speeding ticket or fine.
As mentioned at the start, the really best way is to not speed at all. There are venues where you can accelerate speed up your vehicle to your heart's content without exposing other people and even yourself to harm. Racing circuits are more forgiving to accidents than motorways where there may be a lorry bearing down on you just as you spin out on that curve.
Now if you are truly innocent and the speeding fines were imposed unjustly, then you can go and contest them based on the guidelines above. Approach private companies who specialize in overturning unfair convictions.
Lastly, it may be prudent to weigh your alternatives carefully. If you were issued a fixed penalty notice which involved a conditional clause then you may want to consider it if you have the slightest doubt about the accuracy of your own equipment. Even if you have 100% confidence in your equipment, it may still be better not to contest the fine if your own case is not that strong. You may know that you were not speeding but just saying it will not sway the judge one bit. You must be able to prove that you were in fact, not speeding. Otherwise, you may want to settle for that conditional notice since it will not add penalty points to your license. Challenging the ticket and losing may cost you much more in legal fees, penalties and worst of all, you add to your penalty points.
So evaluate and go over your options carefully before finalizing your course of action.
